Partner Incubator: X-Up

About X-Up :

X-Up is an early-stage accelerator for technological and innovative startups. It provides 6-months, renewable once, acceleration cycle to up to 15 startups of various sectors: IOT, hardware, data science, artificial intelligence, robotics, healthcare, fintech, cleantech, etc. The process is heavily based on mentoring, that is adjusted on a case by case basis, and is developed around high-level workshops inciting the circulation of ideas. Accelerated startups work in close interaction with the École Polytechnique ecosystem (N°1 Best French “Grandes Écoles” in Science and Technology, N°4 World Best Universities for Global Executives): students, researchers, laboratory staff, teachers, institutions promoting technology and research, corporate companies, etc. This program is hosted on-campus, in "LA FIBRE ENTREPRENEUR", a new 2,600 m² space providing a unique spot for creation, experimentation and prototyping, education, incubation, and exchanges with investors. To prepare their future developments, they benefit from an international network of accelerators and incubators, partners and alumni (including entrepreneurs, investors, Major Group’s CEOs, etc).

Services included with the incubation

Coaching

  • the team of Entrepreneurs In Residence (EIR) and Startup Advisors follows closely the development of each startup. They are in charge of evaluating the startup needs, defining the objectives with the founders and reviewing its weekly, suggesting improvements or new axis of development, etc. Concretely, they set up one weekly “one-to-one” meeting with each French Tech Ticket startup (1h minimum).

Business Services

  • Hosting in "La Fibre Entrepreneur Drahi X-Novation Center": the new 2,500 m² building fully dedicated to entrepreneurship and innovation is located at the heart of the campus, closely linked to the Research Center and the students activities. French Tech Ticket winners will have full access to open spaces, private offices, labs, space to relax, patio, etc. They will also benefit from a priority access to 5 meeting rooms and a creativity room.
  • X-F4B: prototyping resources in dedicated spaces. Once trained by our Fablab experts, French Tech Ticket startups have full access to 3 equipped prototyping spaces adapted to their different needs and product development stages:
    • E-lab, from idea to design: high-quality softwares for designing, programming, 3D modeling, etc.
    • Fablab, from design to prototype: rapid prototyping machines (electronic and mechanical tools, 3D printers, laser cutter/engraver, vinyl cutter, hot-press, etc.)
    • Advanced manufacturing workshop, to go further: advanced machines for producing first set of pieces, before launching mass production
  • X-F4B, as a global place for learning and testing, is open to a various population of innovators: entrepreneurs, students, researchers, ecosystem stakeholders and partners. Empowered by their respective experience, they learn and mentor each other, gaining deep knowledge about the machines, the materials, the design processes, and the engineering that goes into innovation.
  • Selected and dedicated events
    • The Entrepreneurship & Innovation Center organizes and is involved into local, national and international events during the year, where startups meet investors, students, business prospects, Medias, etc. We also communicate to startups about contests and events that might be interesting for their development.
    • We strongly support interactions between startups and École Polytechnique’s best students: during the “Workshop”, startups offer them technological subjects for their annual student project; startups can also meet students and recruit their next interns during the “Get Started”.
  • “Welcome Pack”: a pool of negotiated services for X-Up startups. We negotiated for startups some services that are often extremely useful: graphic design, web design, business cards, expertise in contract, accounting, etc.
